Yesterday I designed a new logo for Sterry Cartoons!
If you like the cartoons it’d really make me happy if could give me
a thumbs up or a wave on facebook and twitter!
We’ve also got a new shop!
Thank you all! 😀 x
Sterry Cartoons: A collection of music and animal cartoons by Hannah Sterry.

This was in the last post about the Sterry Cartoons competition, but I thought it deserved its own blog post!
Now for my version of silly advertising speak:
Do you have thumbs?
Do you want to see more cartoons?
Do you like making random strangers smile occasionally?
Then ‘Like’ Sterry Cartoons on Facebook and have a giggle! 🙂
Silly advertising over!
Have fun and laugh lots!
x
Hello and thank you to all of the the people who suggested cartoons for my mini competition. There were quite a few good ones, both on Sterry Cartoons facebook page and on twitter (@HannahSterry).
TOP 3 FACEBOOK SUGGESTIONS:
“It’s PC gone mad!” ~ Bilgeboy Bob
“The iphone” ~ Pete Foreman
“Isambard Kingdom Brunel trying to construct Ikea furniture.” ~ Mitch Mitchell
I have already drawn two of these (and a bonus Rabbit Pi), just for fun:
Tonight’s project is going to be drawing Isambard Kingdom Brunel and possibly Miss Von Trapp (she’s got a little mini competition going on).
Friendly Tweeting
I was chatting to a few lovely people on twitter and asked whether they’d like some cartoons too. Here’s what they came up with:
I’ll be drawing and posting these throughout the week and have already started sketching them! I might draw a few more, because some of the suggestions were so good!
Hope you’ve all had a good week and keep creating! 😀

Last week I asked people to send in their requests for Sterry Cartoons on Facebook and here’s the first completed cartoon!
This particular request was from ‘Bilgeboy Bob’, who suggested:
A crossed eyed cartoon computer with tongue hanging out, jumping up and down – caption “It’s PC gone mad, I tell you!”
I think I got most of it, except the jumping up and down part. I really enjoyed drawing the ridiculous expressions! 😛
‘Like’ Sterry Cartoons on Facebook for more silliness!
This bit of the post is a few days late. My dad drew me this cartoon on Fathers’ Day and made me smile, so I thought I’d share it with you too. If you ever need a cool saxophonist or someone to quote amusing bits of Jasper Carrot and Blackadder, he’s the guy to ask!

Anyway, I’d better get on with drawing the next of my silly cartoons. This time the suggestion is from Pete Foreman, who had a load of brilliant requests:
A knapsack with sleeping cats in it? An old fashioned telephone that, instead of a number wheel, has an eye in the centre of it (an iPhone)? In a similar vein, a pocket watch? A handbag?
Hopefully I’ll manage to complete one of them tonight! x
I’ve just opened a new shop with society6 because of their range of products and the professional look of the shop galleries, but I’m interested to hear the opinions of people already using the site to sell their work. I’ve spotted Jess Smart Smiley‘s illustrations on there and Alastair‘s photography, but wondered if anyone else on here uses it too and how they think it compares with other print-on-demand sites like RedBubble, CafePress and Zazzle.
Here’s what the shop looks like so far!

Feel free to follow me on there if you’re interested in the work too.
I’m interested to know what you think.
I’ll probably be posting more on Sterry Cartoons soon because university term ends in less than a week and as soon as exams finish, I have a job interview at Plymouth Arts Centre and would really love to get it!
If you want to wish me luck and motivate me to doodle faster, I’d massively appreciate some more likes and shares of the cartoons on the Sterry Cartoons facebook page! Show anyone who might like them! 😀
Hope you’re all having a good week!

This happened after I came across Jess Smiley’s blog and saw that he was looking for monster doodles to include in Rumpus on the Run: A Monster Look-N-Find Book! It’s well worth having a look at his illustrations, because you won’t be able to help but smile!
NAQs (Never Asked Questions): “Why does your monster have wellies?”
I’m not sure how many monsters wear wellies, but I basically live in farm country and had to climb a hedge to avoid sinking in a muddy lane the other day. Proper Devonian monsters would need to be able camouflage themselves against tractors, hedges, cliffs and mud and would probably only be able to live on Devon cream teas*!
*For some reason, the order of jam and clotted cream in a cream tea causes a lot of arguments between Cornish and Devonian people and nobody knows why.
If you’re interested in silly Devonisms, you might have a giggle at Things Devonians Don’t Say!
Please recommend any great comic/music blogs in the comments – I’d love to follow a few more!
Anyway, I’m off to have a nice dinner with my grandparents, so I’d better go!
Blog to you soon! 😀
Vanity is very silly.
I don’t really understand why there’s so much pressure for women to shave off various areas of body hair. You only have to leave it for a few days and the the hair is back… your legs feeling like they’re covered in hundreds of tiny cactus spikes. Might as well save the money on razors and use the time to draw silly cartoons of cacti instead!
People are funny animals.
Hangman (Light Version): New T-Shirt design from Sterry Cartoons!
Dark Version here: Hangman Dark T-Shirt
Disclaimers are strange! I’ve often wondered why anyone still has to write “May Contain Nuts” on packets of peanuts. It’s like writing “May contain animals” on the sign for a zoo – you’d be darned disappointed if there was nothing there.
Anyway, I can guarantee that no stick men were harmed in the making of hangman, or in the making of this t-shirt, even if it is just because 2D characters are invincible and brilliant. 🙂
General Life & Nice Policemen
Silly little things happen in life and living in a tiny rural English village presents its own small amusements (even if it is just that every now and then you find that a horse has pooed in your garden). Well, today the police were parked in the road opposite my house and my dad couldn’t decide whether to go and take them a cup of tea. He didn’t go out there in the end, but maybe it’s just the thought that counts!
