When I’m Killin’ Zombies

*To the tune of “When I’m Cleanin’ Windows” by George Formby.

Now I go killin’ zombies to keep m’self alive

Wandering round the suburbs with me handy MP5

Now it’s a job that don’t suit me

But zombie killer you would be

If you could see the hell I see

When I’m killin’ zombies

Armageddon’s just a blast!

If only virus worked that fast

The things I do to save me arse

When I’m killin’ zombies

In my profession I’ll work hard

But I’ll never stop

I’ll kill these blasted zombies

Until I’ve had me lot

The zombie bride, she looks divine

The groom escaped her just in time

A wedding’s just a battle line

When I’m killin’ zombies

The living dead just want your brains

Don’t care for your cash or chains

The streets run red until it rains

When I’m killin’ zombies

The virus claimed this camera guy

Who ate the brains of Stephen Fry

Who knew the dead could quote QI?

When I’m killin’ zombies

In my profession I’ll work hard

But I’ll never stop

I’ll kill these blasted zombies

Until I’ve had me lot

Undead walking side by side

Arms outstretched and eyes all wide

There’s no emotion left inside

When I’m killin’ zombies

—— Instrumental ——

This living nightmare ain’t no fun

I’d never leave without my gun

Won’t stop until the battle’s won

When I’m killin’ zombies

My comrade clutches his behind

Got bitten on his… never mind

Natural selection isn’t kind

When I’m killin’ zombies

In my profession I’ll work hard

But I’ll never stop

I’ll kill these blasted zombies

Until I’ve had me lot

A zombie staggers down the street

One head shot and that guy’s dead meat

I’ll shoot ‘em back until I’m beat

When I’m killin’ zombies

When I’m killin’ zombies

Hopes, Dreams and Designs

Sterry Cartoons T-Shirt Designs

My ambition, above anything else is to make a living from things that make people smile. It’s why I love music, cartoons, comedy – other people being happy and sharing just a single little moment brings me more happiness than anything else and if I can’t create and share experiences and laughter with other people then I don’t really know what my life is for.

I expect lots of people feel like this but just don’t know how to get to the point where they’re spending the majority of the time doing the thing they love and… that’s ok! I have no idea what I’m doing, but while I’m still in education I’m going to spend my time learning as much as I can about the subjects I love, taking action in testing new ideas, creating new products, promoting myself and aiming high. I hope that if you have similar dreams you can do the same. 🙂

Here are a few of my favourite t-shirt designs so far – you might have seen them before, but I hope they give you a giggle!

Summertime: The world-jazz-funk-fusion version!

Smiling Music Face Hoddie - Music gifts by Hannah Sterry
Music makes me happy!

It’s scary posting music in a public space, but this afternoon I decided to record a world-jazz-funk-fusion version of Summertime by George Gershwin and thought it’d be nice to share.

The aim of this really was just to create something that I was happy with, within a deadline of a few hours and to build confidence.

I’ve been quite self conscious about singing solo since secondary school – I know so many talented singers and if I try to compare myself to them then I lose half of my confidence. I tend to deal with the doubt by acknowledging that everybody’s voice is completely unique and that I might as well do my best, but sometimes the confidence still goes.

It’s even more bizarre when you consider that I’d be quite happy to stand in front of thousands or millions of people playing the flute.

The clarinet’s still a work in progress in terms of learning, but I stuck it in there just for fun!

I’m not a royalist:
I’ll choose to count your worth
On the wisdom of your choices,
Not a status claimed at birth.

Musical Compliments

Musical Compliments - A music cartoon by Hannah Sterry (Sterry Cartoons). Musical Compliments A silly musical cartoon, showing two music notes chatting. The conversation reads: “Liking the natural look!” “Thanks! You’re looking pretty sharp yourself!” It’s just a bit of musical fun. Would make an ideal gift for anyone musical; music students, teachers and lovers of amusing puns! Designed by Hannah Sterry. This is the very first cartoon I ever created and now you can buy it on all sorts of things in my Zazzle store!

As far as I can remember, the idea for this cartoon was sparked by a chat with a lovely friend (singer and teacher Sarah Barnett). We were wondering whether it would be possible to make smiley faces out of music notes. I got a little bit obsessed and eventually came up with these.

The music puns followed on naturally and made a few friends smile, so they stayed. 🙂

Musical Compliments Gifts

Here are just a few of the products I’ve made so far. They’d probably make great gifts for your musician friends and music teachers, or (if you’re anything like me) you might just want to treat yourself because it makes you giggle. There are all sorts of products to choose from (not just these ones), so if you want to see the whole range have a look over here (Zazzle Shop).

Chicks… as promised!

A few weeks ago our chicks hatched and here’s how they look now!

The chicks have been called Aslan, Fluffo and Shakespeare and seem to be quite happy pottering around the garden with mum! We had to put a finer wire mesh over the top of their run because Shakespeare kept escaping and we were worried that the cats might eat him if he did it again. One of the chicks also seems to like ‘piggy-back rides’ and will just sit on mother hen while she’s looking for food.

I think I’ve also managed to accidentally prove that chicks are basically baby dinosaur descendants. I mean… just look how freaky this one is when it looks directly at me.

Definitely descended from a dinosaur. That chick's stare scares me just a little. Photo by Hannah Sterry.

Admittedly it might have just been a bit cross because I didn’t have any worms and I’d just interrupted it’s daily routine of wandering around the chicken run for hours, but I’m not sure I deserved this level of ANGRY GLARE! At least it’s not big enough to eat me!

More baby birds soon. I need to tell you about ‘Pidge’! x
